Limp Bizkit recently wrapped up a string of intimate club show and appearances at music festivals such as Welcome To Rockville and Carolina Rebellion, where they absolutely tore up the stage! Vocalist Fred Durst took some time out during the band’s club tour just prior to their killer Carolina Rebellion performance to chat with PCM’s Kristyn Clarke about the band’s new music, legacy, touring and more!

Q: How is the club tour going?  Heard the shows have been getting some absolutely amazing responses.

FRED DURST: It has been really interesting. We are used to playing different size venues all over the world so these shows had a very intimate feel about them and we love it. The character of the crowd and the energy is fantastic and it is certainly a great re-launch for us as a band in that regard.

Q:  I heard you are bringing out some of the lesser played tracks on the tour, how is that going over? It has got to be wonderful for the fans.

FD:  Yeah, you know what, it’s a fine line there because you want to play deeper cuts for the hardcore fans, because you think at the smaller shows it must be the core fans because they are the first to get their tickets so we expanded our set list to include very few of our popular setlists of songs and sometimes I don’t know how it’s going over. I don’t know if there’s people out there that are just yelling  play “My Way”, play “Nookie”, play “Rollin’” but there are some core fans that are definitely happy.  We also don’t want to alienate people that came to hear certain songs and might not be core fans or heard every album we’ve done. I, personally , there are a lot of band I like, but I don’t know their album cuts. I only know their popular songs and if I went to their show I would be hoping that they would at least bust out a few.  I do think the reaction has been good from the fans I talk to every night.

Q: That’s good. It happens like that when it seems that nowadays we are stuck in a singles market and people are not purchasing entire albums any longer.

FD: Yeah, when I go to a concert, I like to sing along and have a few surprises. I like to watch the reaction of artists when the messages to a lot of these songs are deeply personal.  Each night we change the set list so we never know what we’re going to play until the moment we walk on and see the changes then.

Q:  With seven albums under your belt at this point, how hard is it for you to put together a set list every night?

FD: It’s interesting because what we did was stand up a sushi menu, but with our songs, like literally, there is a sushi menu with all the songs and we just go around and check off the ones we might want to play and put some sort of number beside them and what order, then we print them out and look at all the ones we chose.  When we get on stage it’s an audible situation, we just go with the flow, it’s almost like we’re DJ’s, meaning DJ’s can’t always come in with a pre-programmed set, you have to ride with the momentum of the crowd and the vibe and the energy. You have to make audible changes sometimes and go with where the flow is going to lead them somewhere and that is what we try to do with our set list.

Q: You recently played the Welcome To Rockville Festival in your hometown of Jacksonville, FL and are playing the upcoming Carolina Rebellion Festival in Concord, NC. What can we be expecting from your festival set?

FD:  Well, you can be expecting nothing but 110% of our passion for what we do and that’s about all we can really promise you. We are going to feel out the vibe when we get there and create a set list like I said, and just get up there and feed off of the crowd and continue to give to the crowd and create that synergy back and forth and see what happens.  It will be a very awesome, exciting, magical moment of the day, I know that, because it always is!

Q: Absolutely!  We cannot wait! You’re new track “Ready To Go” has been performing quite well , how happy are you with the feedback that it’s been getting so far?

FD: I feel it’s a polarizing track as in line with our band.  If you kinda recall, in the early days  people not liking hip-hop or metal, especially hip-hop and metal together, which is what we were doing at the time and it was always part of our course. Personally, I love the new track…I love how urban it is and how heavy it is at the same time in a very metal or rock way and I think more people are going to be growing to love it. There was a lot of initial reaction where people love the track, but you do get those polarizing moments where someone goes ‘what the hell is this?’ so someone in the hip-hop world goes ‘what are you doing?’ or people in the rock world saying ‘really, you’re signed with Lil Wayne’ and I say ‘Maybe you’re really not a fan of Limp Bizkit, because I have been collaborating with hip-hop artists since day one!’ I am a hip-hop artist and a rock artist and a skateboarder and a tattoo artist and a break dancer, all that kind stuff, a melting pot of things, and I think that it’s finding that audience right now with that “Ready To Go” track. Everyone I’ve talked to about it, which isn’t a lot of people, I try to stay in touch with people when I can, I do all the social networking for the band myself, and it’s hard when you read thousands and thousands of messages with positive responses and then you’ve got that one mean comment, that one thing that stands out, and so many people have stuff to say and there are some radio stations out there that are playing the track, but won’t play a hip-hop artist and things like that, so it’s an interesting climate.

Q:  It really seems like you are embracing the new technology. In my opinion, you guys were always pioneers that were not afraid to take a risk and try something different and I think that is fantastic because so many artists get stuck in one box.

FD: Yeah, I appreciate that! I feel like we pride ourselves in choosing plaid as our favorite color. We really don’t have a direction, it has always been obvious from day one with the feel and the sound that is Limp Bizkit. We are four completely different guys, but when we get in the room, somehow it just comes out sounding like Limp Bizkit whether it’s a melodic song , rap song, heavy song  so it’s very interesting to be able to just take risks. There are moments when I am up on stage, I relive it all! When I am up on stage, meaning there can be a song that I wrote that is very personal about something within myself and it left me with a scar, so when I’m up there I have to relive it and then all of a sudden I’m letting it go, throwing my finger up and partying like a mother f**ker on the next song.  It’s strange sometimes when you mix them all together in one evening , it’s like watching “The Wall” or “Clockwork Orange” or something.

Q: How therapeutic is that release for you as an artist?

FD: It’s pretty interesting. I, mean, I feel that the therapy is over. I feel like it was therapeutic and now it’s more like I open those wounds and pour salt in them all the time because those are the words I wrote and when I’m up there performing it how I wrote it, I have to relive it each and every night.  Sometimes I’m like ‘Oh, god, can’t this just be f**king over, what am I doing?’ but now I wrote this song and I have to relive the emotions a thousand times. I go in and out with it being therapeutic and being like ‘Go away!’ .

Q: I can imagine! The new album “Stampede Of The Disco Elephants” is due out later this summer. Do  you have a target release date?

FD:  No…we are kind of trying to figure that out.  We are still trying to feel things out and see how well the single performs, but hoping for maybe sometime at the end of the summer. I think the album feels like an end of the summer record.  I don’t know what that means exactly, but it works.

Q: Awesome! We will definitely tell our site visitors to stay tuned. What are some of your other goals for 2013?

FD: We really want to continue growing and building our fan base and just travel and play live music which is what we’ve always wanted to do and why we got into this in the first place. It’s the reason we are still doing it, because we love doing it. The money is not the same anymore, it’s just amazing that this is what we get to do to pay our rent and feed our kids, so more of that. I am working on a couple of movies and I have a television show that I sold to Showtime and just some different things  and working on a lot of stuff  and have irons in all the fires I like to hang around and just constantly hoping to evolve to be a better person and have another opportunity to wake up tomorrow.

Jimmy Eat World  have released their newest album, Damage (RCA). Damage is the band’s seventh studio album, the follow-up to their 2010 album Invented. The Damage US tour has just been extended, with an additional leg for September and October. Presales start Wednesday, 6/12, and public on-sales begin Friday, 6/14.  The band will perform the first single from Damage, “I Will Steal You Back,” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight; tune in at 11:35/10:35 central.

• After performing 73 shows and counting, Aaron Carter brings “The After Party” tour across the nation. “The After Party” is a reference to his well known record Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) released in 2000. On the tour Aaron has been performing his girl-screaming induced songs that made his fans fall for him years ago. He has sold out many dates this summer and will continue to tour through the fall with anticipation of his new EP release out this August. Carter missed being in front of his fans stating, “I’m so excited to be back on the road again. It’s truly the only place I can call home. My fans have been extremely supportive throughout the years and I can’t wait to see them all. ”

•  Terraplane Sun have released a video for the song “Get Me Golden” which is on the band’s forthcoming EP Ya Never Know, to be released on July 16th via Trauma 2 Records. The video can be seen below! ”Get Me Golden”, the lead single, is available on iTunes now. The band will be touring throughout the summer in support of the new EP.

• The music video for Skylar Grey’s latest track, “Wear Me Out,” is out today. “I am going back to my roots as a piano-driven singer-songwriter with this song,” said Grey. “The song and the video were both inspired by events in my childhood, like sneaking out of the house to camp with my friends and flirt with boys.” Grey’s debut album, Don’t Look Down, executive produced by Eminem and Alex Da Kid, will be released on July 9. Fans can get special access to pre-order the album paired with an autographed YUMS New Era Snapback as seen in the “Wear Me Out” video worn by Skylar – click here for details!

(PCM) Metallica, using the fake band name Dehaan, surprised fans by performing an unannounced set on Saturday afternoon at the band’s Orion Music + More festival in Detroit, MI. The band took to one of the festivals smaller stages, The Vans Damage Stage, to perform their debut album “Kill ‘Em All” in it’s entirety and it was glorious!  The surprise set lasted for nearly an hour and fans were delighted to hear not often performed tracks such as “Jump In The Fire”, “(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth”, and “Whiplash”.  Metallica came up with the idea to use the band name Dehaan as a bit of homage to the actor Dane Dehaan, who is starring in the band’s film “Metallica Through The Never”.

Once the opening riffs of “Hit The Lights” were heard throughout the festival, fans came running for every direction possible at full speed to catch the band’s exhilarating performance. Even, Dropkick Murphy’s who were in the middle of their set on the Orion main stage, stopped and made an announcement that Metallica was performing across the field, it was positively one of the most memorable festival moments I have ever had the privilege to witness! It was also incredibly touching to see Ray Burton, father of the late Cliff Burton the original bassist for Metallica and contributor to the “Kill ‘Em All” album, sitting on the side of the stage for the band’s performance of their iconic first album.

Metallica front-man James Hetfield did tease the crowd a bit when taking to the stage to introduce Dehaan, claiming the band was from Baltimore and were’ sure how many people would show up for their performance. He also provided a major hint about the band’s surprise set via Instagram when he posted the following “Don’t miss Dehaan! #MUYA #mff#UwillRegretMissingThem#IfUdoUmightKillEmAll #winkWink#getIt?”  You would have had to be following the band’s Instagram pretty closely throughout the afternoon, but he pretty much did give it away!

Dehaan a.k.a. Metallica ended their set by saying “We appreciate your support and hope to see you again somewhere.” Hmm…could that mean more surprises to come? With Metallica you never know!!!

Cherrytree/Interscope/A&M Records is pleased to announce a new album of original material from Sting, entitled The Last Ship, scheduled for release on September 24, 2013. The album is inspired by Sting’s forthcoming play of the same name and explores the central themes of homecoming and self-discovery, drawing upon his memories of growing up in the shadow of the Swan Hunters Shipyard in Wallsend. His personal reminiscences illuminate universal truths – the complexity of relationships, the passage of time and the importance of family and community – to form an affecting, complex parable for our modern times. The play, in which Sting has been creatively immersed for nearly three years, debuts on Broadway in 2014 and is a collaboration with Tony Award winners Joe Mantello (director; Wicked, Other Desert Cities), John Logan (writer; Red, Skyfall)) and Brian Yorkey (writer; Next to Normal). • On September 3, Columbia Records will release Hesitation Marks, the new full-length album from Nine Inch Nails. Recorded in secret over the last year, Trent Reznor teamed with producers Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder to create the first new music from Nine Inch Nails in five years. Lead single “Came Back Haunted” is available today on iTunes! The album can also be pre-ordered at www.nin.com, where the single is streaming now. Today plans were also unveiled for “Nine Inch Nails: Tension 2013″ - a fall 2013 North American arena tour.  Reznor says, “Tension picks up where Lights in the Sky left off.  This is the full-on NIN live experience realized as we never could before.”

• Metro Station, the pop rock / electronica band responsible for the infectious and wildly popular hit ‘Shake It,’ is back and better than ever. These new limited edition box sets of THE AEROPLANE FLIES HIGH feature the original 33 track version—remastered by Bob Ludwig—and expanded to 104 tracks (90 audio and 14 audio-visual) encompassing unreleased demos, alternative versions and live recordings. Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song, Amos Lee’s fifth studio album, will be released on October 1 by Blue Note Records. Lee recorded the 12-song collection in Nashville with Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Eric Church, Cage the Elephant). “I’ve always enjoyed it down there, so I thought I’d bring my band and see how a bunch of Philly guys fit in,” says Lee. “Jay brings a musicality, a different kind of ear. He definitely hears things in ways that I don’t, and brings out extra dimensions in the songs.” The convenient location allowed several remarkable guests to participate in the sessions. Alison Krauss joins Lee on “Chill In The Air” and Patty Griffin sings harmony on “Mountains of Sorrow,” a song inspired by Lee’s visit to Levon Helm’s barn in Woodstock, where he appeared at the legendary drummer’s Midnight Ramble not long before Helm’s death.

• In a newly released buzzed about video, renowned comedian and actor Patton Oswalt provides a brilliant comedic interpretation of the revolutionary soul anthem “The Magic Clap” by Oakland group The Coup. Oswalt described the video on Twitter by saying succinctly, “I explain my favorite song by my favorite band.” “The Magic Clap” can be found on The Coup‘s latest full length release Sorry To Bother You.

• London-based EDM trio MONSTA release the Messiah EP, available today on the iTunes Store ( iTunes.com/WeAreMonsta) and all digital retailers. Comprised of producers Rocky and Rufio with vocals from front man Skaar, the rising group is a product of the UK dance scene whose progressive sound and uncompromising refusal to be pigeon-holed by any one genre has been making waves with peers and live audiences alike. Title track “Messiah,” for which the group recently premiered the video, combines all the best parts of electronica, dance, soul and gospel with producers Rocky and Rufio injecting an unmistakable and infectious energy to the track which sounds as euphoric on speakers as it does on the dance floor.

• Australia’s San Cisco today announced they will release their debut full-length album on July 16th via RCA Records. The 13-track offering is the follow up to their Awkward EP, which was released this past March. The album’s jubilant first single “Fred Astaire” is available to listen to now HERE and will impact radio later this month. San Cisco also announced an extensive U.S. headlining tour. • Multi-talented actor, dancer, and singer Matthew Morrison has released his new album Where it All Began today on Adam Levine’s 222 Records. Featuring a collection of classic standards and Broadway hits, the Glee star turned to legendary producer Phil Ramone (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett), along with GRAMMY  Award-winning producer Gregg Field, to bring his new album to life. Next month, look for BLACK SABBATH to launch a 20-city North American concert tour in support of 13.  Kicking off July 25 in Houston, TX, the tour will include shows in Holmdel, NJ (NY-area), Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Tinley Park (Chicago), San Francisco, Seattle and Toronto, ON before wrapping up September 3.

“Straitjacket Supermodel” is featured on the band’s forthcoming album Locked & Loaded which is slated to be released this Summer via 3for5 / Megaforce / Sony Red. The album was produced by an All-Star cast of producers, including Dave Bassett (Shinedown, Halestorm) Eric Bass (Shinedown), and Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Puddle of Mudd, Alter Bridge, Chevelle), and is the follow up to 2011′s Banquet for a Starving Dog.

Eve to Adam will be hitting this road this Summer with Texas Hippie Coalition on the Highway Robbery Tour. The band will also be playing the Sunset Sessions in Carlsbad on the weekend of June 6th, 7th, and 8th.

(PCM) It has been close to four or five years since we have had the chance to witness a Fall Out Boy live performance and I have to say without a doubt, their recent performance to the sold-out Electric Factory crowd was well worth the wait. Armed with their brand new album “Save Rock and Roll” and the amazing success of its’ first single “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em’ Up)”, Fall Out Boy are back and sounding as fresh and invigorated as ever.

Once the band took the stage the crowd erupted into shrieks of absolute exhilaration and were completely intoxicated by the sound and fury that was pouring forth from Fall Out Boy, as they blasted through their set list laden with hit song after hit song. I had always kind of looked at Fall Out Boy as being part of that emo-rock /pop punk genre, but it blew me way at just how heavy they are in the live environment. For songs such as “Thriller” and “A Little Less Sixteen Candles and A Little More “Touch Me” I was almost waiting for the headbanging and mosh pits to start opening up on the floor and it was awesome. It was a truly memorable experience to watch nearly everyone in the audience joining to together to belt out favorites such as “The Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race”, ” Sugar, We’re Going Down”, “Hum Hallelujah”, “Dance, Dance” and my personal favorite “I Don’t Care”.  The band closed out the main portion of their set with the current single “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light ‘em Up)” which received a particularly spirited response from the crowd and followed that up with an encore that included the new album title track “Save Rock and Roll”, “Thanks for the Memories” and “Saturday” to close out the show.

Vocalist Patrick Stump sounded fantastic and his vocal prowess only seems to get better and better with each passing year. Stump has the uncanny ability to breathe a very particular life into the band’s lyrics and his voice is nothing less than tremendous. Bassist Pete Wentz ,guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley also played their parts to a tee and all appeared to be having the time of their lives rocking out on the stage. The band will be touring pretty much throughout the rest of the summer and are slated to appear at several of the European festivals such as Reading and Leeds along with Summer Sonic in Japan. They will also headline a larger amphitheater tour slated to begin later this fall with special guests Panic At The Disco and Twenty One Pilots.

It is no doubt that Fall Out Boy are doing their part to “save rock and roll” one show at a time and this one certainly goes down as one of the very best so far of this year. I say keep up the great work guys!  The new album absolutely rocks and without a doubt Fall Out Boy absolutely does too!

(PCM) It was a bright and early return to Crew Stadium to begin day two of Rock On The Range 2013. Today’s line-up featured performance from Scorpion Child, Pop Evil, Young Guns, Gemini Syndrome, All That Remains, Otherwise, Heaven’s Basement, Halestorm, Motionless In White, Red Line Chemistry,Bullet For My Valentine, Black Veil Brides, The Sword, Papa Roach, Asking Alexandria, Clutch, Three Days Grace, A Day To Remember, Stone Sour, and Smashing Pumpkins.

Day two got off to an amazing start with Michigan rockers Pop Evil kicking off the main stage and creating quite a stir among the crowd who were still making their way into the stadium. Armed with their epic new album “Onyx” Pop Evil know how to get the party started and their energy was invigorating, giving us a just a taste of what the rest of Saturday’s line-up held in-store for us Rangers! There is such a ton of great music and performances going on throughout the day at Rock On The Range that it is often times incredibly hard to make the decision about which bands to check out, however we did our very best to witness as many bands we possibly could on Saturday afternoon.

A band that took to the Jagermiester stage early in the afternoon was Gemini Syndrome who absolutely blew me away with their hard-rocking performance and succeeded on getting quite a large mosh pit going despite it being so early in the day. While most of our day was spent checking out the main stage artists, we absolutely sure to make our way over to the Pabst Blue Ribbon stage to catch sets from Black Veil Brides, Asking Alexandria, and second stage Saturday closers A Day To Remember. Each of these band’s put on quite memorable performances, and certainly had legions of die-hard fans in attendance, making it quite the struggle to hear the band over the roar (or rather screeching) of the crowd, but none the less it was a great time and certainly a bit of an adventure from within the midst of the crowd during their blazing sets. Other highlight sets that we were able to catch a few moments of throughout the day were from Otherwise, Motionless In White, and one of my personal favorites Clutch!

All That Remains, Halestorm, and Bullet For My Valentine played early main stage sets and the crowd became more and more wild as the day wore on! All That Remains brought more of  hard core metal sound to Saturday’s line-up and it was great to finally see this band getting their time to shine on the Rock On The Range main stage. While we have had the pleasure of seeing Halestorm live on numerous occasions throughout the last year or two, I do not think I will ever tire of watching this band perform. Singer Lzzy Hale holds the audience captive in the palm of her hand as they churn through hit after hit making each and every performance one to remember.

Another stand-out performance on Saturday came from energetic rockers Papa Roach, who are another band I will never tire of seeing perform live. Singer Jacoby Shaddix has an aura about him that is just full of energy, fun, and good times. You can tell that these guys truly love the art of both music and performance and appeared absolutely overjoyed to be performing here at Rock On The Range. It was great to see Jacoby interact with the crowd, even jumping down for the stage and performing right out in the midst of the crowd. I love a band that is not afraid to get down and dirty in the pit with fans.

One band I had my reservations about prior to Saturday’s performance was Three Days Grace, as I was not sure if new lead vocalist Matt Walst would be able to carry the band the same way as former lead singer Adam Gontier, but guess what? I may have to admit that I enjoyed their performance even more than I have in years past. Walst breathes a different life to the many of Three Days Grace hit singles and it works! I was even more surprised when the band threw in a cover of Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”, but yet again they rocked it!

One of the performances we were most excited to see on Saturday night was Stone Sour and they killed it! Front man Corey Taylor has a completely hypnotic stage presence and brought a level of raw aggression to the stage that was infectious. Stone Sour was slated to play Rock On The Range two years ago, but unfortunately had to pull out of the show last minute due to drummer Roy Mayorga suffering a stroke, so needless to say the crowd was overjoyed to welcome the band to the festival this year. Hearing tracks such as “Absolute Zero” and “Bother” live was just amazing and Stone Sour definitely gave their heart and soul to the crowd and the reception was certainly mutual.

The final band to take the stage on day two of Rock On The Range was Smashing Pumpkins and I almost feel band for Billy Corgan and company, as most of the crowd began pouring out of the venue after Stone Stour blistering set, and perhaps the fact that the venue shut down beer sales early that evening. It was their loss because Smashing Pumpkins truly put on a stellar performance. The band had a fresh sound, as the cranked out many fan favorites including “Today” and “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” along with a gorgeous cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”.

(PCM) I recently had the pleasure of witnessing genre-blending rap rockers Hollywood Undead tear up the stage at both the Carolina Rebellion music festival in Concord, NC and then again at Rock On The Range in Columbus, OH. The band recently wrapped up their “Blood In Blood Out” tour with Falling In Reverse and are gearing up to head out on the House Of Blues 20th Anniversary tour with Escape The Fate and 3 Pill Morning which will kick off on June 26th in Seattle, WA.

The band are currently touring behind their third studio album “Notes from the Underground” released back in January of this year. The album has proven to be quite a success for the band, as it made its Billboard 200 debut at #2, the highest chart placement for the band to date. The album’s first single “We Are” has been quite well received by fans and critic alike, and features a video directed by M.Shawn Crahan of Slipknot fame.

Catching up with Hollywood Undead for an interview is always a great time, and you can never be too sure what to expect. Recently I caught up with the group at Rock On The Range to chat about the upcoming tour, music videos, cell phone cameras in the crowd…and perhaps learned a bit more about the band than I truly needed to know….just kidding!  I love these guys!

The rapper’s plan was to project a new song and visual on three locations in Houston, including the Rothko Chapel (an outdoor park), the Central Library and the George Bush Monument. Each of these locations wer announced late last week.

The crowd was described as “an upbeat, respectful crowd,” and witnesses said that several police cars came onto the grass, flashed lights and sirens and demanded everyone leave or be arrested for trespassing. Confused visitors left when they realized it was not part of the show.

The Bush Memorial screening was also a “no show” according to fan Janet Quiroa. “All we saw were the sprinklers come on and obnoxious people screaming Kanye threats,” Quiroa said.

The library show never took place either, but reasons for that were unclear. The showings are a preview of West’s new album, “Yeezus,” due June 18.

The Rothko Chapel, founded by Houston philanthropists John and Dominique de Menil, was dedicated in 1971 as an intimate sanctuary available to people of every belief. A tranquil meditative environment inspired by the mural canvases of Russian born American painter Mark Rothko (1903-1970), the Chapel welcomes over 60,000 visitors each year, people of every faith and from all parts of the world. On the plaza, Barnett Newman’s majestic sculpture, Broken Obelisk, stands in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A source recently revealed to the NY Post that Richie was outed from the band because Jon had had enough of Richie’s hard-partying lifestyle. However, sources tell Hollyscoop that Jon has been trying to blame the split on Richie’s non-existent alcoholism and the feud is actually about Jon’s ego.

“Jon Bon Jovi had his ego hit hard when daughter Stephanie overdosed on heroin on November 14, 2012 in her college dorm. Since then Jon has been distraught and even angrier to business associates and friends. Jon said point-blank to Richie’s face, ‘I thought an overdose would have come from a daughter of yours, not mine.’”

It was this low-blow comment from Jon to Richie that basically ended whatever relationship they DID have. Sources say that since Jon’s daughter’s overdose, Jon has gotten even angrier and more cruel to Richie. Richie has always maintained that his exit was for “private reasons” that he would not go into. We now know that this “private matter” was actually Jon’s belittling.

“Richie just went quietly and played for 20 plus shows that ended in late February, but when he had to return on April 2 for the next leg, Richie decided he wasn’t being paid enough to go through with all the cruelty from Jon,” adds the source.Our sources even think that Jon’s recent jab at Justin Bieber was a hidden passive-aggressive dig at Richie for ditching the band.

Basically, our insider is pretty positive this is the end for the band.

“After what Jon said to Richie about Richie’s daughter and his comments and actions to hurt Richie, Bon Jovi may be a thing of the past.”

EVE TO ADAM recently released a lyric video for their current single “Straitjacket Supermodel”, which can be seen here. “Straitjacket Supermodel” is featured on the band’s forthcoming album Locked and Loaded, which is scheduled to be released later this Summer via Megaforce Records. But one music lover, identified as @pqkullman on Twitter, wasn’t happy with the use of the Dylan song and tweeted: “@dariusrucker Leave country to the white folk.”

Rucker obviously angered by the post responded, “WOW… is this 2013 or 1913?”

He added, “Ill take my grand ole Opry membership and leave your racism. Wow.”

pqpullman’s twitter account has disappeared as of this writing.

The signer lept out into the crowd feet first, while performing ‘Adorn’ and clocked a fan. He did manage to finish the song and meet up with Khyati, who was wearing a icepack, backstage. He tapped another fan in the arm, but there’s been no word of any injuries.

(PCM) The excitement was brewing as we drove into Columbus Crew Stadium to begin the first day of our three day excursion into the heart and soul of rock n’ roll at Rock On The Range 2013. Always one of my top picks for best festival in the States, Rock On The Range 2013, yet again did not disappoint. Rock On The Range is now one of the veteran rock festivals in it’s seventh year and I am always incredibly happy to see the line-up becoming more and more diverse and without a doubt, more awesome with each passing year. It was also amazing the hear that this years festival was completely sold-out, so rock on!

Normally the festival features three stages that run back to back throughout the course of the weekend, however with the festival expanding to three days this year instead of two, Friday night’s line-up of ten bands ran on two stages starting a bit later in the afternoon. On Friday night we caught some amazing performances from XFactor1, Love & Death, American Fangs, Hollywood Undead, Mindset Evolution, Buckcherry,Oleander, Cheap Trick, In Flames, and Korn.

The afternoon got off to fantastic start with Love & Death kicking things off on the main stage. Many Korn fans knew to show up bright and early because Love & Death is the new band fronted by ex-Korn guitarist and founding member Brian “Head” Welch. It was during last summer’s Carolina Rebellion festival that Welch reconnected with Korn front-man Jonathan Davis and joined the band on-stage during their closing set marking the first time they had played together since 2005. Fast-forward to 2013 and the announcement that Brian “Head” Welch had rejoined Korn on a permanent basis and they would be performing live together at Rock On The Range left many die-hard Korn fans absolutely overjoyed. Welch appeared to be thrilled playing in both bands and absolutely tore up the stage with both Love & Death, as well as, Korn to close out the night.

One of huge surprise highlights came from Oleander’s performance on the Jagermiester second stage earlier in the afternoon. Being of the early to mid nineties generation, hearing this band’s name on the bill immediately had me excited and curious about what to expect. The band has just released a new album titled “Something Beautiful” and put on one hell of an amazing and energetic performance at Rock On The Range. Another highlight of the afternoon came once Los Angeles rockers Buckcherry took to the main stage turning the energy notch from zero to sixty blasting straight into their hit song ” Lit Up” and never slowing down. They tore through majority of their hit singles, and even threw in a bit of a surprise with the not often played song “Porno” sneaking it’s way into the band Rock On The Range set.

Another band that was surprise for me to see included on this year’s Rock On The Range bill was Cheap Trick, however these veterans of rock brought down the house churning through their hits such as “Dream Police”, “I Want You To Want Me”, and of course “Surrender” during which they were joined on stage by several member of Buckcherry. It was insane to see the majority of the crowd, most of whom were not even born during Cheap Trick’s height of popularity, belting out every lyric to both “I Want You To Want Me” and “Surrender”, and let’s not even mention the almost bewildered looks upon the faces of both Robin Zander and Rick Neilson and hundreds of fans began crowd surfing their way from the back of the stadium to the stage, something probably not seen at your typical Cheap Trick concert, but that’s Rock On The Range for ya!

Swedish metal band In Flames closed out the Jagermiester stage on Friday evening with one of the most adrenaline fueled performances I have had the chance to witness. The crowd went absolutely wild with mosh pits galore and continuous chants for more as they ate up the raw brutality that is an In Flames performance. With the crowd amped and ready to go, it was finally time for Korn to take to the main stage to close out day one of Rock On The Range 2013. This year marks the first time Korn has ever headlined Rock On The Range, and they pulled out all the punches. Opening with “Blind” followed by the deep-cut, fan favorite “Ball Tongue” the crowd went absolutely insane. It was wall to wall people on the floor of the stadium rocking out to Korn’s nearly 70-minute set, and you could see the camaraderie between those five men on stage  who put every inch of their soul into their performance and never disappoint in the live environment. We recently had a chance to catch up with Young Guns while out at Carolina Rebellion. Despite having a bit of any early set time at Carolina Rebellion, the band blasted through their set with so much energy and vigor it was a fantastic way to wake everyone up to start the day. Although “Bones” is getting a ton of radio play, it was amazing to witness the crowd belting out the lyrics to each and every song throughout the band’s set, and Young Guns are without a doubt poised to have a huge year in 2013!

Mutli-talented actor, dancer, and singer Matthew Morrison has just released his new single, a cover of Duke Ellington’s jazz standard “It Don’t Mean A Thing” (available now on iTunes). The song, which premiered this week on Huffington Post, will appear on Morrison’s upcoming album, Where It All Began, due June 4th as the debut release on Adam Levine’s 222 Records.

Featuring a collection of classic standards and Broadway hits, Morrison turned to legendary producer Phil Ramone (Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett), along with GRAMMY Award-winning producer Gregg Field, to create the album. Where It All Began featured such treasured classics as “Singin’ In The Rain,” “Luck Be a Lady,” “West Side Story Medley,” and more.

(PCM) What started out as being one of the most promising festival line-ups this summer Carolina Rebellion came to an abrupt end on Sunday evening with performance cancellations of headliners Volbeat, Bush, Rise Against, and Soundgarden due to the inclement weather conditions in the North Carolina area. The situation left many fans in attendance, who braved the elements for hours, wet, muddy, and just plain disappointed as festival organizers scrambled to come up with a game plan, ultimately deciding the conditions were just too dangerous for both attendees and the performers to allow the show to continue.

In true Rebellion spirit, the frustrated crowd on Sunday started several chants such as “Rain Or Shine, Rain or Shine” tossing every imaginable object at the stage in efforts to urge festival organizers to get things back on track. There were several times throughout the day when things appeared to be turning around with absolutely fantastic and dedicated performances from American Fangs, Heaven’s Basement, Pop Evil, Red Line Chemistry, Steel Panther, Hollywood Undead, Escape The Fate, Sevendust, and Buckcherry. Those band’s that played deserve the utmost respect for their dedication to the fans and proved to be resilient against the obstacles of the day.

On a much brighter note, day one of Carolina Rebellion went off without any problems with some absolutely stellar performances. The day got off to an early start with upcoming and coming band Young Guns taking the stage at 11:00am with a huge number of attendees showing up early to catch their set. Although the day was overcast and cold, the weather conditions did nothing to dampen the spirits of the fans who got to witness some blazing performances from Otherwise, Sick Puppies, Bullet For My Valentine, Asking Alexandria, Halestorm, and Papa Roach. Device, the new band fronted by Disturbed lead vocalist David Draimen, really stood-out amongst Saturdays performers especially when fans were treated to a duet with Draimen and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm on the song “Close My Eyes Forever” which was just gorgeous. The energy levels were sky high through most of the days performances especially from Papa Roach, who never disappoint in the live atmosphere and Deftones, who performed a set filled with pure adrenaline and raw emotion.

Day one closed out with performances from Limp Bizkit and Alice In Chains. Limp Bizkit had the audience at full attention as soon as they took to the stage, playing an amazing set filled with fan favorites and a few surprise covers such as Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name Of” and “Thieves” by Ministry.  Alice In Chains brought the night to a beautiful close performing new tracks such as “Hollow” and “Stone” paired up with classic Alice In Chains tracks such as “Them Bones” and “Rooster”, closing out the set with “Man In The Box” and “Would”.

This album showcases such much of the band’s growth and maturity as musicians and the amount of raw honesty put forth within the music is completely captivating. The first single “Trenches” is on a steady climb at rock radio and if the popularity of “Trenches” is any indication, than “Onyx” is sure to be one of the top performing rock albums this summer.

Pop Evil are one of those band’s that are able to flawlessly blend together both ferocity and tenderness all within the same album, sometimes even within the same song. “Onyx” features hard rocking tracks filled with aggressively heavy guitar riffs such as “Goodbye My Friend”, “Welcome To Reality”, “Sick Sense” and “Flawed” paired along side some high emotional tracks such as my personal favorite on the album “Torn To Pieces” and “Silence and Scars”.

The band will be hitting the road this summer in support of “Onyx” and will be making appearances at some of the country’s top summer festivals including Rock On The Range.

(PCM) We were recently able to check out Sevendust’s absolutely blistering show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA. The band is on touring currently promoting their ninth studio album “Black Out The Sun” (our review here) and the Atlanta band scored their first-ever #1 on the Billboard charts, taking over the “Top Hard Music Albums” chart its first week out!

Sevendust never disappoint in the live atmosphere and they literally put on one of the loudest, most hard-rocking shows I have ever had the chance to attend. They absolutely tore the venue apart with their hypnotic stage presence and unyielding energy. It was non-stop action from start to finish and Sevendust absolutely kills with their live performance, if you have not had a chance by now to see this band live, you truly don’t know what you’re missing!

(PCM) Buckcherry’s new Confessions CD is available now via Century Media Records and we recently had a chance to catch up with Buckcherry front man Josh Todd at the Carolina Rebellion music festival in Concord, NC.

Confessions is Buckcherry’s sixth studio album and first U.S. release for Century Media Records. It was produced by Keith Nelson and Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne) and features eclectic CD artwork by graffiti artist Ewok. The songs on Confessions merge punk grit, gutter attitude, honest storytelling, and razor sharp hooks, while the lyrics are tied together by the underlying theme of the Seven Deadly Sins.

The album’s first single “Gluttony” is impacting Active Rock in the U.S. and is steady climbing. We were dealing with a very nasty weather situation down at Carolina Rebellion with all of the rain and cold temperatures causing many of the band’s scheduled for Sunday, the final day of the festival, to bail out, however Buckcherry was not one of those bands, and they deserve the utmost respect for putting on one heck of an incredible performance for the eager crowd under those particular circumstances. At the time no one realized that Buckcherry would be the final band to grace the Carolina Rebellion stage but none the less they closed out Carolina Rebellion with a hard rocking bang.

(PCM) The horror-core legends Insane Clown Posse brought “The Mighty Death Pop” tour to the Electric Factory in Philadelphia PA. This time joining the carnival was Axe Murder Boyz, Kung-Fu Vampire and Moonshine Bandits. 

Taking the stage first was Denver’s Axe Murder Boyz. Ripping through songs off their Psychopathic Records release “Blood in, Blood out” and some of their earlier albums their 30 minute set went by very quickly. With songs like “I Stay Wicked” and a new song called “Jump” the duo was a perfect  intro to what the rest of the evening would hold.  The highlight of the set came when AMB played their ICP remix of “F**k the world”.  The ICP diehards were in full force and sang along word for word.

Up next came San Jose California’s Kung Fu Vampire. Not really knowing what to expect I was a bit excited when a stage cover was removed to reveal a drum kit. Live instruments at a rap show will always catch my eye.  After the 15 minute change over Kung Fu Vampire took the stage. Joining KFV was Jeremy Pollett on bass and Chris Paxton on drums. I have to say I was impressed when Kung Fu Vampire hit the stage. The set lasted 30 minutes and consisted of songs off their newest release “Love Bites” as well as samples from past releases.

The live element of Kung Fu Vampire’s performance was the real highlight for me.  His machine gun delivery along with funky bass and drums really brought it all together. The highlight came with Paxton’s drum solo at the end of the set.  

Next up was Suburban Noize Records hillbilly rap rockers Moonshine Bandits. As DJ Chopstiqs took the stage for the Moonshine Bandits intro I was really into the mixes he was laying down. In any other setting an extended intro might have been a little boring. This was not the case with DJ Chopstiqs as he mixed through samples from Johnny Cash to the Beastie Boys .  It was amazing and if any indication as to what the Moonshine Bandits were going to be I was excited.

Finally the Moonshine Bandits hit the stage, with bottle of the bands own “Outlaw Moonshine” in hand.  Two stepping to country western music, the first thing that came to mind was that these guys came to party. You don’t have to be mistaken as to what the Moonshine Bandits are all about. Jack Daniels, Beer, Woman and of course the “Shine” lifestyle is the constant theme. Working through their 45 minute set the Moonshine Bandits played songs off their Suburban Noize Release “Whiskey and Woman”. 

With songs like “For The Outlaws”, “Get Loose” and “Shine with Me” the Moonshine Bandits start where Kid Rock left off. Where many hip hop artists talk about gold chains and luxury cars the Moonshine Bandits talk about partying, 4-wheelers and booze. With a following that appeals to both country music and commercial rap fans these guys are doing their own thing. In a world that puts every music artist in a mold this is refreshing even if their fan base leans towards the country side. Also, how can you not like a group of country boys that have their own brand of moonshine?

With the still closed stage curtain you could feel the energy grow as everyone knew what was coming. Fans that come to an ICP show are some of the most dedicated in music and with their unwavering support,  ICP has been bringing the Dark Carnival to the masses for nearly twenty years. 

After a short 15 minute wait the start of the show came in the form of a Brady Bunch parody intro song. Soon after the curtain opened to reveal the new stage set-up which had the new “Mighty Death Pop” clown character in the background and two large bubbling water tanks that sported the Faygo soda logo.  Led by Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope the boys wasted no time in letting the Faygo spray for the packed Philadelphia crowd.  For those that don’t know “Faygo” is a cheap sugar loaded soda pop that ICP spray on their fans by the gallon load, and usually in the form of 500+ two liter bottles per show.   Opening with “Chris Benoit” and rolling right into the title song off the new album “Mighty Death Pop”.  By the second song I was soaked from the Faygo spray, and was having one of those why am I here moments, and then it sank in literally as the clowns ran through songs like “Get Ya Wicked On”, “What Is a Juggalo”, and “Bazooka Joey”. My favorite moment of the night came when Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope went into “Headless Boogie”. Accompanying them on stage were eight ghouls that danced a choreographed routine to the song while dumping buckets of Faygo soda into the crowd.

I have to give it to Insane Clown Posse for putting together this tour line up. Each artist is just a little different   and gives you a good idea about what Insane Clown Posse are all about. Check them out on “The Mighty Death Pop” tour.

(PCM) Tim Lambesis, front man for the heavy metal band As I Lay Dying, was arrested in Southern California as a suspect in a murder-for-hire plot. Authorities in California claim that Lambesis attempted to hire an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife.

The arrest took place at a local area retail store and details remain sketchy at this time. A statement from the police claim that Lambesis had solicited someone to kill his wife, who lives in a nearby town. Law enforcement quickly launched into an investigation, which ultimately led to Lambesis’ arrest.

It is not known if Lambesis has hired an attorney at this time and police are keeping quiet about the ongoing investigation. As I Lay Dying were scheduled to hit the road for a tour later this month.

The band formed in San Diego, CA back in 2000 and have released six albums including 2007′s “An Ocean Between Us,” which reached No. 8 on Billboard’s charts. A track from the album was nominated for a Grammy for top metal performance.

(PCM) For the millions of U.S. fans who fell in love with the astonishing talent of IL VOLO following their show stopping PBS Special “Il Volo Takes Flight,” or as special guests of Barbra Streisand’s fall 2012 tour, the boys will return to North America for a series of 17 concerts. The Live Nation produced tour kicks off August 25th at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, BC and includes a stop at the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Hanneman and famed guitarist Kerry King co-founded Slayer back in 1981 and achieved massive success with the 1986 album “Reign In Blood”. Hanneman was also one of the primary writers for the band penning tracks such as “Raining Blood” and “Angel Of Death”.

A band spokesperson has issued the following statement in regards to Hanneman’s sudden demise “Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. He was 49. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.”

The rock and metal community has truly lost another massive talent and our condolences go out to Hanneman’s family, bandmates, and friends during this truly difficult time.

Kriss Kross had a major brush with fame in the early nineties after being discovered by Jermaine Dupri at an Atlanta shopping mall in 1991. The duo released their debut album in 1992 which featured the hit single “Jump” that remained on the top of the Billboard Charts for eight weeks during that year. The pair also had the amazing opportunity to open up for Micheal Jackson during the late performers “Dangerous Tour” that same year.

Kriss Kross also made some waves in the fashion world on the early nineties by wearing their clothes backwards, which would start a trend that swept through the younger generation during that time. The duo released their last album in 1996, however recently reunited back in February of this year to perform at the 20th anniversary celebration for Jermain Dupri’s So So Def record label.

We expect more details surrounding Kelly’s death to be revealed in the next few days and for now our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family during this difficult time.

“Never Clean” is featured on the band’s forthcoming debut album The Diary of Tomahawk, which is due out later this year. The album is a 13 song concept album, which tells the story of a young girl named Tomahawk, who after enduring a horrifying experience within her family, begins practicing Dark Magick, and discovers a world of shadows interlaced within her own reality. BLACK LODGE is offering the release of “Never Clean” as a free download, available on their official site, along with the first chapter of the accompanying graphic novel.

The Diary of Tomahawk was recorded at The Realm Creative with co-producer Jeordie White/Twiggy Ramirez (Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle) and producer Lee Miles (Rise Against & Puddle of Mudd). Brian Virtue (30 Seconds to Mars & Chevelle) mixed the album with Paul Logus (Stone Sour) mastering.

(PCM) As the release date for Escape The Fate‘s highly anticipated new full-length Ungrateful inches closer, ArtistDirect is giving fans another peek at the record with “Until We Die.”

Along with “Until We Die”, the band released another new song, “Live Fast, Die Beautiful,” on Eleven Seven Music’s Youtube Channel last week. The song is the first look at the explosive live DVD that is part of the Deluxe Edition of Ungrateful. The concert was filmed in front of an over-capacity Roxy in LA and contains all of the fans favorite songs.

Ungrateful is out on May 14th on Eleven Seven Music. The album is now available for pre-order.

The band will be on tour all spring, including dates on The Connection Tour with Papa Roach and a number of headlining shows. The band will be touring with Hollywood Undead in July.

(PCM) I was recently able to catch up with both Andy Grammer and Parachute prior their co-headlining tour stop at the TLA in Philadelphia, PA. Both Andy Grammer and Parachute put on  fantastic performances to the more than eager fans in attendance. Parachute provided the crowd with a solid set filled with their soulful yet, pop-driven tunes keeping the energy level high throughout their entire performance. Parachute are currently out on the road in support of their upcoming new album which features the newly released single, “Heart’s Go Crazy.” The single is available for purchase now on iTunes and can be heard here. Parachute has also released an acoustic performance of the track for fans to hear.

Amazing singer, songwriter, and musician Andy Grammer shoots onto the stage like a firecracker and it is non-stop action from beginning of his set to the very end. It is always a true pleasure to witness Andy Grammer in the live setting because he keeps things upbeat and moving song after song.  A performance from Andy Grammer is absolutely certain to leave a smile on your face, as he certainly did with this reviewer! Grammer is still currently touring behind his 2011 platinum certified self-titled debut album and is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
