Album Review: The Flower Kings "Banks Of Eden"

Legendary prog rockers The Flower Kings have released their first new album in five years today, titled “Banks Of Eden” and these masters of prog have proven that they only seem to get better with time. The band features members of Transatlantic, Karmakanic and Agents of Mercy and the new album’s first single “Numbers” appears to be garnering quite a bit of positive feedback.

While, personally, I am not the biggest fan of progressive rock, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself getting lost in the music on “Banks Of Eden” and being swept away by The Flower Kings soaring melodies, swirling tempos, and hard hitting drum beats. The epic track “Numbers” clocks in at about 26 minutes and takes listeners on a true musical journey. Other stand-out tracks include “For Those About To Drown” and the gorgeous album closer ” Rising The Imperial” featuring piano and acoustic guitar.

“Banks Of Eden” is one of those albums that you can put on, sit back, and let the music take you where it may. Fans of true progressive rock will not be let down and casual listeners may just open up their senses to check out something new!
