Only hours before the start of Radiohead’s set on Saturday evening in Toronto a massive stage collapse occurred leaving at least one person dead and three others injured, according to officials.
The sold-out concert was cancelled immediately after the stage fell apart and fans were advised to refrain from travelling to the venue. Emergency Medical Services deputy commander David Viljakainen said a man in his mid-thirties was trapped under the rubble and was pronounced dead on the scene due to a head crushing injury.
Several others were hurt after the stage collapsed at around 4p.m. while the crew was preparing for the night’s sold-out performance. A 45-year-old man was hospitalized with a head injury and two others were treated at the scene for minor injuries at the Downsview Park venue.
