Brooklyn’s own Heaven released their debut 7inch S/T7. The digital release of the songs was available on September 20th. SS-Kaliert has teamed up with PunkNews.org to premiere the title track off their upcoming album, Subzero. With songs featuring lyrics in both English and German, these hardcore punks released Subzero on September 27th. The premiere of “Subzero” can he heard here.
Hot on the heels of her platinum single “Stereo Love” and charting atop Billboard, Canadian pop star Mia Martina delivered the latest video for her debut album Devotion, which dropped August 29th. Mia has also been nominated for both the 2011 Juno for Dance Single of the Year, and 2011 MMVA for Most Watched Video.
Jesse Sykes & the Sweet Hereafter are on tour this fall promoting their latest album, Marble Son. Watch their video for “Come to Mary.”
Skillrex and Sonny Moore confirmed the formation of a collaborative effort with friends called OWSLA. The title, a reference to a rogue army of rabbits in the seminal children’s novel Watership Down, is an overarching title for the company’s many planned efforts to release music and beyond. He’s joined by Tim Smith (his manager and owner of Blood Company) as well as Kathryn Frazier (owner of Biz 3) and fellow press conspirator Clayton Blaha. Watch the OWSLA teasers here.
Humming Records will be releasing the Flashguns debut album on 17th October 2011, distributed by Rough Trade. Passions of a Different Kind is the first album from London band Flashguns. It was recorded and produced with Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode) and Barney Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian) in Somerset and Kent. The album artwork can be downloaded here.
The UK’s top rock act Kasabian is returning to American shores with the release of Velociraptor! . An exclusive digital release of Velociraptor! debuted on September 20th and the full physical album to followed on September 27th. In support of their new album Kasabian will kick off their European tour this fall which will culminate with two nights at the O2 Arena in London on December 13th and 14th. These dates follow performances this summer at the Isle Wight Festival, the iTunes Music Festival and other notable European festivals. Béla Fleck presented the world premiere of his Concerto for Banjo and Orchestra — one of the first ever written for the instrument — with the Nashville Symphony on September 22-24 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The Concerto marked a significant new departure for Fleck, who called the piece “a liberating experience for my efforts as a composer and hopefully for the banjo as well.”

The Fairchilds released their debut album Our Revolution via independent label Vertusent on September 27, 2011. Our Revolution is a compelling compilation of twelve tracks ranging from sing-along rock anthems to haunting ballads. Keep an eye out for this new album.

Pop rock band Carolina Liar self-released their highly anticipated new album Wild Blessed Freedom. Recorded with producers Max Martin (Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Pink), Shellback (Usher, Ke$ha) and Tobias Karlsson in Stockholm and Los Angeles, the album is the first independent release for the group, who made their major label debut in 2008 with Coming To Terms. Carolina Liar recently teamed with VEVO to premiere the video for lead single “Drown.”
Rise to Remain recently announced the North American release of their debut album City of Vultures. The release date of the highly anticipated record has been pushed back to January 24, 2012 from the original October 11th release date. Following the release of their new self-titled full-length album out now on No Sleep Records, and US tour dates with Cusive frontman Tim Kasher, Albany, NY’s indie-punk hybrid Aficionado have announced a series of year-end, East Coast US tour dates opening for Thursday, mewithoutYou, Screaming Females, and Make Do And Mend. The band will also be kicking off a series of dates this weekend as main support to Maylene and The Sons of Disaster, followed by a one-off home-town show opening for Motion City Soundtrack. Ólöf Arnalds upcoming covers EP Ólöf Sings is due November 8 on One Little Indian Records. The five-track EP includes recorded explorations of road-tested covers from her live set and is her first recording performed entirely in English. Ólöf Sings reinterprets Arthur Russell’s “Close My Eyes”, a medley of Gene Clark’s “With Tomorrow” and Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire”, Neil Diamond’s “Solitary Man”, Bob Dylan’s “She Belongs To Me” and Caetano Veloso’s “Maria Bethânia”.
Elizabeth Cook will appear on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” next Wednesday, October 5th. Like last month’s appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” Cookwill be putting in couch time, not performing. Seems that Cook has some late night fans of her “Apron Strings” show on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country. “Apron Strings” airs Monday – Friday 10 am – 2pm EST on SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, channel 60.
Progressive technical metallers Textures released their highly-anticipated new full-length album, Dualism, on Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded at Split Second Sound Studios in Amsterdam with guitarist and producer Jochem Jacobs. Following their of Montreal/Casiokids split release for Record Store Day, Oslo-based label Splendourhave announced the next installment in their series of limited edition 7″‘s. This latest split 7″ features two original singles by a pair of bands that have been receiving some much-deserved attention. His Clancyness and Shimmering Stars 7″ split will be set for release on October 31st in the UK.
