Just in time for ‘prom season’, Montreal pop band Creature have fans buzzing with their track “Prom Prom” that responds to the timely cultural struggles that the LGBT community is facing.

“Prom Prom” proved to be a hit on iTunes Canada over the week of May 3rd, where it received an overwhelming 40K free downloads. With high-energy and a radio-ready chorus (“It’s prom prom and you’re a lesbian”), the lyrics spread LGBT awareness about same-sex couples attending prom and will be featured on Creature’s upcoming sophomore album Sick Imagination.

Creature has shared the stage with Mika, Ting Tings & GZA, been nominated for “Pop Album of The Year” at the 2009 Juno Awards, and the Queen of New Wave herself, Debbie Harry of Blondie, called the band “fantastic” after catching their show in New York.

With the success of their self-produced debut album, No Sleep at All, Lisa Ivy (keyboard, vocals, percussion), Sid Z (drums, vocals) and Kim Ho (bass, vocals) of Creature were signed by Universal Music Canada and began recording their sophomore album Sick Imagination in summer 2010 with legendary producer Stephen Hague (New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Blur, Peter Gabriel) in the notorious SARM Studios, where Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Paul McCartney and Madonna have all laid down tracks.

With Hague’s trademark work throughout the record, Creature expands and sharpens their pop rock sound on this new album with tracks like the pulsating “So High,” and the single “Prom Prom” – hear snippets of these two tracks on www.creatureband.com.Creature will be performing on June 7th in New York City at Pianos (158 Ludlow Street) at 7 PM.
