Rev Theory Unveil New Webisode for the Making of "The Fire"

Rev Theory have just released a new webisode that documents the recording of their song “The Fire,” which is featured on the band’s forthcoming album Justice (in-stores 2/15). “The whole premise behind ‘The Fire’ is kind of about a twisted relationship”, remarked bassist Matty McCloskey when asked about the meaning of “The Fire.”

Lead Guitarist Rikki Lixx talks about the recording process, “We just spent most of the day recording drum tracks for ‘The Fire.’ We did about 100 takes, but it came out and things are looking good.”

Golden Dogs To Release "Coat Of Arms" LP

Golden Dogs will release Coat Of Arms LP on Dine Alone April 26th. They have also announced spring tour dates, in addition to playing SXSW!

At the end of a hard year of touring in support of their second album ‘Big Eye Little Eye’, which took them by way of Britain and Germany, straight across the USA sharing stages with Canadian luminaries like Feist and Sloan, those who witnessed its fury likely had no inkling it was the end of a chapter for the band. The long awaited homecoming was bittersweet; there were big changes on the horizon.

For starters, the band had been released from their record contract; a contract they had been locked into for years that now left them 100% in control of their business affairs. In another twist of fate, their long time bass player, Stew Heyduk, decided to leave the country and get married in Hawaii. Within weeks of being at home and somewhat directionless, the question began looming: “What now?” While there are always songs brewing on lead man Dave Azzolini’s hot plate, the idea of going straight into recording another album wasn’t an attractive one. They needed a break from being Golden Dogs.

The Black Angels Confirm New Tour Dates

The Black Angels will be heading out on a headlining tour this spring in support of their latest release, Phosphene Dream. The tour will kick off at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans, LA, on March 31st and conclude with a home state stop in Dallas, TX, at The Loft on May 21st. In between these dates, they will also be performing at their third annual Austin Psych Fest, which will take place April 29-May 1st.

It is no secret that the band loves to tour, and their stunning live shows illustrate their dedication. NPR attended a performance at Seattle’s Triple Door late last year and proclaimed, “The group tore the roof off and let its razor blade leads and wailing organ-synth rain down. Leader Alex Maas barked with a ferociousness that sunk into the skin.” The Black Angels will also spend the month of February touring throughout Europe, further proving they have no plans to slow down anytime soon.

Phosphene Dream marks a huge leap forward for The Black Angels. It was produced and mixed by Dave Sardy (Oasis, Wolfmother) in Los Angeles, a far stretch from the cozy Austin studios that delivered their first two records. This new one presents a fresh take on the neo-Psychedelic movement they’ve been at the forefront of for years.

Architecture in Helsinki to Release New Album

You may not have expected it, but the first great modernist pop album of 2011 is here… Four years on from their last album, Architecture In Helsinki return with the hook-laden, magnetic and lush Moment Bends (out May 3rd on Cooperative Music USA/Downtown Records). It sounds like the record they’ve waited their whole lives to make, retaining the fizzing immediacy of its three predecessors and re-molding with a more sophisticated touch.

In large parts, Moment Bends is in dialogue with the dance floor, without being a slave to any particular rhythm. So, imagine a sound equal parts Italia ‘82, California ‘79, and Melbourne 2011, glued together with a dynamic bounce and a compelling romanticism.

Recorded over a 2 year period in the band’s studio space, Buckingham Palace, Songwriter Cameron Bird says: “Moment Bends was all about being at one with our ideas, obsessed with popular music and falling in love with our hometown. We wanted to build a record to get lost in. A record that always feels exactly what you are feeling”.

Sarah Darling's New Album Angels & Devils Out Feb 15th

Sarah Darling

Already recognized as one of the country music’s most expressive vocalists, Sarah Darling emerges as an equally eloquent songwriter in Angels & Devils, her second album from Black River Entertainment. Angels & Devils will be released February 15th, 2011.

From the eleven songs in this new collection, Sarah Darling co-wrote nine, including the irresistibly catchy first single, “Something To Do With Your Hands.” Due out February 20th, the song is shaping up to be the friskiest and frankest come-on tune since Mel Tillis’ bawdy “I Got The Hoss” in 1977.

2010 was a particularly high-profile year for Darling, who made her album debut the year before with Every Monday Morning. Her music video for “Jack Of Hearts” went Top 10 on GAC its first week out and earned her a spot hosting the network’s “Top 20 Countdown.” “Being artist-of-the-month on GAC [Great American Country television] was a big highlight for me,” Sarah notes.

In September, propelled by heavy airplay of the song on XM Satellite Radio, Darling joined with A...
