Prince has announced that his guests for the January 18th date of his critically acclaimed “Welcome 2 America†performances at Madison Square Garden will be none other than the funk/soul band Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. Jones & the Dap-Kings join the ranks of an already impressive list of opening guests that have included Janelle Monae, Esperanza Spalding, Maceo Parker, Mint Condition, Sinbad, Lalah Hathaway, Cassandra Wilson, and Larry Graham.
Also, due to overwhelming demand, Prince recently announced an additional date at Madison Square Garden on February 7th, 2011. The guests for this show have yet to be announced. Tickets go on sale Saturday, January 15th at 10:00am ET at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.
