Huey Lewis & the News offer first album in nine years

Grammy-winners Huey Lewis and The News have confirmed the November 2 release of ‘Soulsville,’ their first album in nine years, to be released on W.O.W. Records. Recorded at historic Ardent Studios in Memphis, the album features 14 classic songs from the vault of Stax Records, including “Respect Yourself” and “Got To Get You Off My Mind”. Shontelle's 'Impossible' Soars to No. 9

SRC/SRP/Universal Motown pop sensation Shontelle’s explosive summer single, “Impossible,” has soared to No. 9 on Billboard’s Pop Song chart, No. 12 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart, and No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Also ranked No. 1 on Music Choice’s Hit List and No. 1 Most-Added at Urban AC R&R, the heartfelt midtempo ballad is the lead single from the Bajan singer-songwriter’s upcoming second album, No Gravity, to be released on August 24, 2010.

Shontelle’s slow and steady takeover of the Billboard charts is further proof that the Barbados native, who previously scored a Top 40 entry in 2008 with her gold-certified debut single, “T-Shirt,” which sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, is quickly gathering mainstream-sized momentum leading up to the hotly anticipated release of No Gravity.

Indeed, to garner a Top 10 pop hit and gain the respect of radio listeners and programmers is a strong indication that Shontelle, who is currently featured as Clear Channel’s Pop Featured Artist of July, is poised to take her rightful place among today’s biggest names in pop, including Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and Taio Cruz.

Will Cotton Inspired California Gurls' Candy Land

On Wednesday, July 21st, renowned contemporary artist Will Cotton unveiled his completed portrait of chart-topping recording artist, Katy Perry. Katy was present for the unveiling in the artist’s Lower East Side, Manhattan studio. The painting will also be featured as the cover of Katy’s new album, Teenage Dream, scheduled for US release on August 24th.

The recording artist first contacted the painter five months ago to share her enthusiasm for his work. It was kismet or destiny as Cotton, a confirmed Katy fan, had long considered making her the subject of one of his confectionary landscape paintings.

The resulting portrait was chosen by Katy to grace the cover of her newest release and it is recreated in live action as one of the scenes in her current video for “California Gurls”, which has been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the last six weeks.
